Canada · Australia Trade & Logistics
Independent specialist freight forwarding, import/export facilitation and procurement support. Relationship-driven. Founder-led. Rooted in international logistics since 1995.
Our Story
North Star Navigation traces its roots to Marine Forwarding — a Montreal-based international freight forwarding business established in the late 1970s. That legacy was later formalised and rebranded as North Star Navigation in 1994, operating through the decade with a reputation for professionalism and client trust in global trade.
Today, that heritage is being thoughtfully revived — not as a nostalgic exercise, but as the foundation for a modern, independent specialist Canada–Australia trade and logistics practice. With a presence spanning Eastern Canada (Montréal, Ottawa, Toronto) and the Pacific gateway of Vancouver, and a direct focus on the Australian market, we are positioned on both sides of this corridor. We carry forward the values that built the original business: personal accountability, operational know-how, and relationships that last.
We are not a high-volume commodity freight broker. We are experienced operators who work directly with clients, understand their supply chains, and bring genuine expertise to every shipment, every procurement decision, and every cross-border challenge.

The Trade Lane
Two English-speaking, rule-of-law economies bound by CPTPP — and an underserved trade lane with real opportunity for businesses willing to navigate it with an expert partner.
Both Canada and Australia offer predictable regulatory frameworks, common-law foundations, and strong commercial protections — reducing risk for cross-border trade.
The Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership reduces tariffs and opens preferential access for goods moving between Canadian and Australian businesses.
Shared language, similar business etiquette, and aligned professional standards make Canada–Australia trade far more accessible than many other international corridors.
Businesses are actively looking beyond traditional corridors. The Canada–Australia lane is gaining traction as a credible alternative for resilient, multi-market supply chains.
Smaller businesses often lack the resources to navigate international logistics independently. NSN bridges that gap with expertise, relationships, and hands-on support.
With roots in Montréal, Ottawa and Toronto, a Pacific presence in Vancouver — Canada's primary gateway to Asia-Pacific shipping — and a direct Australian market focus on Sydney, NSN offers genuine coast-to-coast Canadian coverage and bilateral credibility.
Pacific Gateway
Home to the largest port in Canada, Vancouver sits at the intersection of Pacific trade routes and the CPTPP corridor. NSN's Vancouver presence means your goods move through the most direct gateway between Canada and Australia.
